Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents ask before signing up for Play&Learn.
Getting Started
What is Play&Learn?
Play&Learn is an adaptive online math practice platform for children in Pre-K through Grade 8, built by Play&Learn Software Systems. Each question adjusts in real time to the child's skill level so they always work in the zone between too easy and too hard. Content is aligned with the North American math curriculum (Canada and United States) and runs in any modern web browser.
What grades does Play&Learn support?
Play&Learn supports Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Grades 1 through 8. Every grade has its own chapter-by-chapter math curriculum mirroring what children learn in school, with hundreds of adaptive question templates across number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, percents, geometry, measurement, data, probability, and word problems.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Play&Learn runs in any modern web browser on laptop, desktop, or tablet. There is nothing to install. Create a parent account, add your child, and start practicing in under two minutes.
How do I create an account?
Click "Sign Up" at the top of the page, enter your email and password, then add your child's name and grade level. You can start a free trial immediately — no credit card required to begin.
How Adaptive Learning Works
What does "adaptive" actually mean?
As your child answers questions, our engine tracks which concepts they've mastered, which they're still learning, and which are too hard right now. The next question is chosen to stay in the sweet spot — not so easy that it's boring, not so hard that it's discouraging. This is the same principle used by research-backed intelligent tutoring systems.
How is this different from a worksheet app?
Worksheets give every child the same questions in the same order. Play&Learn gives each child a different path through the curriculum based on where they actually are. A Grade 3 child who's ready for multiplication won't sit through more addition drills; a Grade 3 child still building addition fluency won't be pushed into multiplication prematurely.
How long should my child practice each day?
We recommend 10–20 minutes per day, five days a week. Short, frequent sessions beat long weekend marathons — regular practice builds fluency and confidence. The platform tracks streaks to help your child stay consistent.
Progress & Reports
Can I see how my child is doing?
Yes. The parent dashboard shows mastery by topic, time spent, accuracy trends, current streak, and which skills your child is actively working on. You can drill down to see exactly which chapters and sub-topics have been mastered and which are in progress.
How does the platform know my child has mastered a topic?
Mastery is earned — not just a count of correct answers. Your child needs to consistently get questions right at the target difficulty level, not just on the easy ones. The system tracks performance over time and only marks a topic mastered once the evidence is solid.
What if my child gets stuck on a topic?
When our engine detects that a child is struggling, it automatically steps back to easier, foundational questions that build up to the harder skill. Children never stay stuck — they're always making forward progress, even if that means a temporary detour through prerequisites.
Pricing & Subscription
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New parents get a free trial so you can see how your child responds to the platform before paying anything. No credit card is required to start the trial.
How much does Play&Learn cost?
We offer monthly and annual plans for a single child, with the option to add additional children at a discounted per-child rate. Annual plans save roughly two months compared to paying month-to-month. See the pricing section on our home page for current rates.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription from the Billing page in your parent dashboard. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current billing period.
Do you offer family or multi-child discounts?
Yes. The Premium plan lets you add additional children at a discounted per-child rate, so families with multiple learners pay far less per child than they would on separate accounts.
Safety & Privacy
Is Play&Learn safe for children?
Yes. Children never enter personal information. There is no chat, no ads, no social features, and no links out to the public internet from the child interface. The environment is built for focused learning only. We follow COPPA-conscious practices and parents fully control child accounts.
What data do you collect about my child?
Only the data needed to personalize learning: questions answered, accuracy, time spent, and mastery per topic. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond improving your child's learning experience. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What is Kids Mode?
Kids Mode is a locked learning environment your child uses during practice. Once activated, the child cannot browse to other parts of the site — they can only work through their adaptive session. A Parent PIN is required to exit. This keeps kids focused and keeps parents in control.
